Kayak Sailing Fishing Lake Anna **** 3, VA – March 06,2010

comeonfish01 asked:

I went to Lake Anna **** 3 (in VA) for striped bass on March 6, 2010. The wind was a little too strong to stay on the edges or drop-off along the shore lines. Instead of fighting against the wind, I put the sail up on the kayak and tacked to stay with the edges and drop-offs along the shore. Also I searched the striped bass while sailing.

    @richardbb85,

    I use 10# – 20# test mono leader on 15# test Super braid main line depending on the target fish.
    Super braided line definitely helps me feel the subtle bites when the water is real cold and fish is in the deep water column. Also it is easier/faster when I tie the lures (knots) with mono leader than super braided lines directly to the lure.

    @richardbb85 ,

    Yes,

    When I trolled fast (3.5-4 mph) with deep diving crank-baits, the leader does not matter, I can even use a wire leader.
    However, the most of the time, I use mono line leader. Nowadays, I use super braided lines (15# and 30# test) as main line depending on the size of the target fish. I use 15# test super braided line for target fish from Large Mouth Bass to any fish up to 20# range.

    See the next comment.
