@ajp0007 Did anyone answer this question for you? I’d like to know the answer to this question myself. It looked like he had the float pretty close to the nymph. I’m thinking as he said in the video, the strike indicator helps the nymph stay afloat so maybe that’s why he tied it close to the nymph.

@1rrelssek hey thanks just watch out because sometimes if it’s a subtle hit the strike indicator may absorb the shock and if your asleep you’ll
miss a fish. Good luck Eric

@coltloverM11911 Yea I think your right. I am new to nymphing and I use a strike indicator just to help learn the ropes on detecting the strike. This next season I’m hoping the practice has paid off and to land some good fish without one

i think that a strike indicator is for those who are new to nymphing help dectect the hit until they’re expierienced enough to know when to set the hook.

id have to agree with stimpy19. Why do this stuff that takes away from fly fishing? Sides who needs a dam indicator when you have your 2 eyes and can feel it.

Strike indicator! Why not use a worm and a float. Takes the fun out of fly fishing, but i am “old school”.
