love it. i’m a fisherman and a hunter myself from California. Castaic and Cachuma lakes is where I mostly fish for trout. And the LA Aqueduct for striped bass alongside Pyramid Lake. 5 stars.!!!
I would go to Cabelas. Their gear is really good quality at excellent prices! But to answer your question, A good rod/reel combo would proably range anywhere from 100-200 dollars. The rod must have good flex and the reel MUST have a good drag on it. Spinning reels are ok, but I prefer a casting outfit because they can take so much abuse and still hold their quality. Rod length should be between 6-10 ft in length, graphite and have good action.
