Just a video my son and I put together of our fishing trip to the Santa Ana River up in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. We had a good trip, caught alot of fish and had alot of fun. We fished three parts of the river and had success every where we fished. My son Brian caught the biggest fish of the trip!
That looked alot like 7 Oaks… hwy 38 to Middle Control road or Glass road… looked like it… i fly fish up there well somewhat lol not a whole lot of room to get a back cast going lol
@brian012281 Thanks, Man. I’m from Anaheim, but I’ll bet it sure bets the drive up to Bishop. I’ve never had the best luck on Powerbait dough, but a Powerbait trout worm with a Pautzke’s egg as a head is a deadly combo for me. Thanks again.
@grenadeserenade it is north of the city of Redlands… If you drive up the back way to big bear, hwy 38. The hwy actually crosses the river about 30 minutes drive from redlands… at that point you can just follow the river and fish any where you can get to. Remember, the DFG only stocks where they can get close to, but if you hike down to the small hidden pools you can catch some native brown trout. I use power bait and salmon eggs… good luck!!
To what city is this part of the river adjacent? And what baits do you guys generally use. I am planning on making trips up here this summer from Orange County.
Yeah it is stocked by the DFG and the limit is 5. I usually never keep any though. Its so fun to spend 5 hours or so fishing all the different spots along the river
is there a limit of how many fish you can take
lol yeah i **** when people do that… thats the sport of fishing. trout are very good eating ahaha i dont care what people say i got a stream im gonna eat them.
yeah I had to add that because lately I have been getting some comments and private messages from people ripping me because I’m a ” brutal killer” and I kill fish for kicks apparently…
nice fish lol dont worry tree huggers ahahahah
AWW what a great day to spend as a father and son!!
Yes the dfg stocks there , but they have stopped for the winter. the water levels were not that high, from what I have heard. this is my first year fishing up there. This river is located up hwy 38 on the way to Big Bear so I dont think its water levels are related to San gabriel river
does the dfg still stock there…and …was the water low or high cause i never been ..there..but i would think its low cause i went to san gabriel river …last week and its low as hell
tried that bridge.. saw small 4inchers.. but still fun!
Fish fry at Brian’s!!!!!!!
