Fishing lures is one of the most common basic equipment in fishing. The lure is attached at the end of the line attached to a hook. Such material varies in size, color, shape, and vibration. The main purpose of lure is to attract the target fish then eventually get its attention. The bait would initially imitate the prey of such fish, then, when the fish attacks, the hook impale the mouth of the fish. With the aid of this, it makes fishing easy.

Lures, in addition, can also be used to locate the destination on which schools of fishes gather. By casting the bait into the water, then eventually pulling it back again, would create an illusion of lure swimming and allows movement in the water so that the light can easily penetrate, the hiding fishes would be attracted.

This equipment can be classified into different categories, based on its color, design and usage. First of which is the jig; it usually imitates the shape of a minnow, worm or a crawfish. This material is made up of lead, and has a shape end where baits, of either choice can be attached. Another category includes the surface fishing lure, which the name itself suggest its usage. This kind of lure is meant to initially float in the water, since it much lighter than the jigs. The purpose of this lure is to get the fish to the shallow part of the water by attracting it as a surface prey. I can be easily due to its feature being thin and shiny, which gets the attention of the fish immediately.

Plugs or crankbits, are fishing lures which falls into another kind of category. This kind of lure is made to move fast under water. Its features made it easy for it to move back and forth, imitating the movement of common fish preys. Nowadays, insects and worms such as flies, crickets and different kinds of worms are known to be the common used baits, either natural or artificial.

Going back in old time, our ancestors have been using lures in such a way to catch fish. But, in this modern time, lures have been much more improved than before. Some comes in different features specialized in some particular usage. Another thing is, unlike before, lures these days come in a wide ranging variety that an individual can choose from. It may be either natural or artificial, but both are environmental friendly in usage.

By: Jessica Bradbury

About the Author:

1. Rod. Perhaps the most obvious pieces of equipment, the rod allows the fly or nymph to be delivered to the correct point in time and space and then allows the fish to be subdued quickly. I use a 8’6 split cane but then I am something of a traditionalist.

2. Reel. It is possible to fish without one. I know this because I once smashed my reel in the car door and went fishing with the line in my pocket. It wasn’t pretty or easy so a reel is definitely essential.

3. Line. The line is more important than most people think. It is the line that enables casting and the delicate presentation of flies.

4. Leader. The leader allows the fly to turn over correctly and present in a delicate manner. Good quality lines matched to the rod can make a huge difference to casting distance and delicacy. Always match the line correctly.

5. Tippet. The tippet is what joins the fly to the leader. It is possible to tie the fly direct to the leader but this becomes expensive if you lose a fly. Tippets can be varied in length and breaking strain for different conditions.

6. Fly or Nymph. I am a minimalist fly fisher and only carry 5 or 6 different patterns.

7. Floatant. Most flies float very well for the first few casts but the natural oils are soon washed off and the fly becomes a soggy mess. A good floatant is absolutely essential to keep dry flies sitting proud on the water’s surface. Of course, if you are a nymph fisher you don’t need floatant and you can be a true minimalist fly fisher and reduce to nine essential pieces of equipment.

8. Sinkant. Sinkant is necessary to ensure that the last 12 inches or so of tippet do not sit proud on the water’s surface and frighten fish. By using sinkant the tippet sits in the surface layer and becomes invisible. It is possible to use river side mud to achieve the same effect but I have found that microscopic grit damages the tippet and causes it to break at less than half its intended breaking strain.

9. Nippers. I once forgot to take some nippers or scissors on a fishing trip. It was the last time I forgot to take nippers! Biting the line just doesn’t work for me.

10. Polaroid Glasses. These are essential for safety reasons. One should never fish without them as all it takes is one bad cast, tree or gust of wind to lose an eye. Polaroids help with observation but it is the protection that is most important.

Some people would argue that nets, fishing clothing, bags/vests forceps, fly boxes, etc are all essential – they are not! You can still catch lots of fish without them.

By: Nick Sawyer

About the Author:

Many people want to become good fishermen because to be able to catch that big one. Now, as other technologies have changed, so has fishing technology. Many types of fishing have become electric and some of the top selling and highest quality electric reels are the Daiwa electric fishing reels. These days fishing has become easier as these reels can often fish up to 1500 feet in depth. The Daiwa electric fishing reels can last a lifetime and can be used for any fishing that you want to do. All that you have to do is pick from the leading models which are available for purchase.

Daiwa offers many different types of models differing in what they can do and in price. Some of the models which they produce are the Marine Power MP 3000, Tanacom Bull TB 1000, Seaborg SB500Fe, Seaborg Megatwin SB750MT, and the Seaborg Megatwin SB500MT. Each of these electric reels has some unique qualities and advantages. They vary in options and also vary in price.

The benefits of using the Daiwa electric fishing reels is that it can make your fishing trip better by making your life much easier especially in the deep sea locations. This high tech equipment may seem expensive to you, but all of the options that these electric reels offer to make any fisherman’s life easier definitely make them all worth the extra expense. These electric reels can make it real easy for new fisherman, on their firs deep sea fishing trip. This equipment definitely makes it easier to land that heavy fish at the end of the fishing line, as well as easier to get it out of the water and into your boat. This differs greatly from non-powered reels that don’t have that extra electric pull. For many people in the world, fishing is a really serious sport. The electric powered reels would definitely make it less complicated for them to catch fish.

So now that you know why to go out and purchase this type of fishing equipment, take some time to browse the web, your local retailer, or sporting goods store and get the best deal that you can. Then you can go out and catch the trophy fish you have always dreamed of.

By: Harry Bernstein

About the Author:

If you are a die hard fishing enthusiast, chances are that you have heard of the Bamboo Fishing rods. These distinctive rods are more like antiques today, with most of them having been used in the days before the advent of the modern fishing rods. Recently, there has been an increasing trend to collect and restore these classic rods. This particular hobby is on the rise among lovers of the fishing sport and those interested in fishing equipment and accessories. Fishing gear shows normally have lovingly restored traditional fishing rods being sold to the tune of $600 and even more.

So, you can imagine the antique value of these rods! The old bamboo rod belonging to your grandfather is therefore not junk anymore. Take it out from the attic or the closet and set about restoring it- for the love of it or the money involved. This new passion is not just an extension of the craze about antiques. Instead it has come forth after the growing realization of the actual usefulness and flexibility of the bamboo fishing rod. Identifying genuine antique bamboo rods is another matter, however.

There are different ways to do this. If you are really interested, you can research on the internet. A number of websites are dedicated towards giving more information about classic bamboo rods and other old fishing rods. They will tell you how to identify these and also provide tips on their restoration. Some websites may also have information about certain books associated with the hobby of restoring classic pieces of fishing rods. However, these will be few and far in between just like the topic of their discussion, the bamboo fishing rods. Still if you manage to chance on a couple, think carefully and then purchase for they are most likely not easy on the pocket.

Other than the websites, you can use the internet for searching groups and associations that are committed towards disseminating education about these classic fishing rods, more specifically, about how to identify them. You can get in touch with them and they surely will be enthusiastic to help. This way you can swap notes by getting in touch with others who share the same hobby. This is the best way to pass information back and forth and also keep a record at the same time. This helps by putting all the original existing bamboo fishing rods on records for posterity.

Identification might be more difficult that what you think because manufacture of bamboo rods has been revived owing to their popularity. Many of these resemble the features and designs of the antiques. So, without an expert eye or opinion, it has become increasingly difficult to identify those which are authentic. A replica can be easily mistaken for a classic. One way to make out if a fishing rod is genuine vintage or not is to check out parts of the rod other than bamboo. The genuine rods will have parts made out of materials that were not obtainable till recently.

The age or worth not withstanding, bamboo rods are just one more reason for the enthusiasts to indulge in fishing more often.

By: Arindam Chattopadhyaya

About the Author:

rockylad_75 asked:

Fun in the Beach

A family is going to a beach. “I’m so excited” Mary said. “Me too” Bob said. The family brought some things for their vacation. They will bring a sun block, a beach ball, some food and snacks, swimwear, and a camera. While driving, the two children just talked to each other and they played a few games. “Here we are at the beach” the mom said. “At last after three hours of driving, we have finally reached our destination” Bob said. “The two kids excitingly went out of the car. They quickly changed into their swimsuits. “Put on some sun block” their mother reminded them. “Okay mom” Bob said. “What are we gonna do now?” Mary asked. “Let’s play with the beach ball” Bob said. “Sounds like a lot of fun” Mary said. “We’ll play volleyball in the water” the father said. “But we’ll use the beach ball” The mother said. The game was adults vs. Kids. The adults won in the game. “Congratulations for winning the game” the two kids told their parents. “What shall we do next?” the mother asked. “Let’s go fishing and we’ll eat the fish that we caught, I’m getting hungry” the father said. “We don’t have a boat” the mother said. “We’ll borrow one, there are many on the seashore” Bob said. They got one of the boats and got some fishing equipment and they rode on the boat. They caught a big tuna. They travelled across the seashore using the boat. They cooked the tuna afterwards. “This tuna tasted delicious” Mary said. “Let’s eat the food that we bought” Bob said. They ate some of the food like pizza, burgers, cake, and drinks for their lunch. They saved some food for their snacks later. After eating they decided to rest on a chair with an umbrella covering them. “It’s so nice to go sunbathing, it’s so relaxing and you can see the view from here” Mary said. “I can see ships and boats passing by the ocean and watch people swimming in the water” the mother said. “I see a lighthouse over there” Mary said. “It’s getting windy already, it seems good to fly a kite right now” Bob said. “Are you gonna buy some kites? If you will here’s some money” the father said. The two kids took the money and bought 2 kites. Mary’s kite was shaped like an eagle while Bob’s kite was shaped like an airplane. “My kite flies very high, it looks like it touches the sky” Bob said. “Yeah and mine flies as high as a real eagle” Mary said. They flew their kites for an hour and they kept it in their bag after using them. After playing with the kites they built a sandcastle. “Making a sandcastle is so exciting” Bob said. “It would be good if we became smaller and we lived in this sandcastle” Mary said. “We will be kings and queens and prince and princess if that happened” the father said. “it would be great being kings and queens” the mother said. The sandcastle was suddenly washed away by the waves of the sea. “That’s too bad, we don’t have a sandcastle anymore” Bob said. “We’ll build another one later” the mother said. “Let’s ride in the parachute” the father said. “okay” Mary said. They rode in the parachute. “It’s so high up here” Bob said. This parachute flying could fly as high as the kites the children were flying awhile ago” the mother said. “It does feel good to be up here” the father said. “You can see the buildings, the cars, and the houses from up here and the very cold wind blowing from up here is so refreshing” Mary said. “What’s that big, white bird flying?” Bob asked. “That’s an albatross” the mother answered. “The albatross is a very beautiful bird” Mary said. “It will be good if people can fly too just like an albatross” Bob said. After riding in the parachute, the family went surfing. “Can we go please?” Mary asked her parents. “No, you’re too young to go surfing” her parents answered. “You can watch us surf” the father said. The two parents are now surfing. “It’s amazing how our parents’ surfboards can get carried by the waves” Bob said. “The waves are getting very big” Mary said. They saw their parents performing amazing tricks using the surfboard. After surfing they ate some snacks and they went home.
